I recently purchased on ebay a magnetic card reader for about a dollar. I use this device as my main login system. I wrote a pam module for login in using gdm and su. Later on I will write for web accounts and mails.

Enjoy (no tricks on the video, it's real. You slide the card and you log in):

The video will be shown on the same page. It won't open any other window or tab.

UPDATE (march 28, 2009): Well, Nard made his own layout for his own parallel programmer. I didn't want to remove this post so that's the reason of the updates. Please, check Nard's page to see the new layout that he made. This is certainly working, you can be safe now. I apologize myself for making the post too earlier.

READ THIS BEFORE! (You have been warned): When finishing details of the pcb I encounter some shorts on the layout made by Simon. Please, check the news on Nard's page about that short I found, here's is a shot:

Sequence of photos of my mjoy and my cockpit. More to come...

Updated: I don't have time to write about this since I'm with another things going around. Actually, this is the Mjoy project by Mindaugas Milasauskas. It's the version using the atmega8. The cockpit needs a little more attention and work to do. I thought in adding some king of resistance to the stick movements so you really feels pulling something as old planes works. Today, modern aircraft are made with literally speaking, joysticks. It's like a computer game. The idea it's to make a resistance stick...got to go now.

Programming AVRs

"Here i go again... (whitesnake song)"

I started in the avr stuff a year ago (maybe more). Note that I'm not an electronic engineer, not even an specialist hobbyist. I started in this world guided by my avionics impulses. I found in the web a DIY usb joystick made by Mindaugas Milasauskas. And that's how the story begins...

I needed a programmer. The web is full of schematics, cheaps, easy to build, blabla programmers. My experience told me that if you don't want to lose time, just build this one. It'll work. Forget about those telling you just to wire a few printer ports to the miso, mosi, sck and reset pins of your avr. This one will work and even more, it will protect your devices (pc, printer port, target, etc).
